InvenSense gets into industrial gyro chips
Sunnyvale-based InvenSense has announced a three axis industrial mems gyro.
Called MPU-3300, it is claimed to have bias instability of 15°/hour and is expected to find use attitude tracking in AHRS (attitude heading reference systems) for industrial vehicles, antenna stabilisation, robotics and inventory control.
Power consumption in the 4x4x0.9mm device is said to be under 10mW (3.6mA).
Operating temperatures range is -40 to 105°C, over which the sensitivity scale factor variation is +/-2%, and zero-rate output variation is +/-0.14°/s/°C.
Noise is 0.005°/s/?Hz, and there are 16-bit ADCs, programmable digital filters, an embedded temperature sensor, and both SPI and I2C interfaces.
Priced at $35 in 1,000 quantities, the device is in mass production.
