TI ups compression capability of DaVinci for low light video
Texas Instruments has introduced its latest DaVinci video processor which has a higher level of data compression to make it suitable for use in surveillance systems in low-light conditions.
The DM385 video processor can compress a four megapixel video stream with either the H.264 or the SVC-T high-profile codecs.
There is also on-chip 3D noise filtering and wide dynamic range (WDR) processing.
The chip can be used to generate 4k x 2k or higher resolution video, Simultaneous multi-profile (base/main/high) compression and image signal processing such as face detection, video stabilisation and lens distortion correction.
There is also a DM385 IP-based camera reference design.
A second chip, the DM8107 video processor is targeted at 4/8/16 channel DVRs.
It supports 1000fps CIF H.264/SVCT encode/decode, HDMI/VGA/CVBS outputs, Gigabit EMAC and dual SATA and PCIe ports.
