Renesas collaboration puts Java into the IoT
Renesas, IS2T and Micrium have got together to put MicroEJ embedded Java onto RX63 microcontorllers for “smart grid, smart metering, smart appliances, building & home automation, and other Internet of things [IoT] applications”, said Renesas.
The MicroEJ platform works on Micrium µC/OS-III RTOS and allows the application to have a GUI (graphical user interface) for microcontrollers with native LCD support.
MicroEJ is scalable, allowing the same application to be developed on a range of Renesas microcontrollers, starting with RX.
“Our collaboration with IS2T, allows IS2T MicroEJ Java platforms to run on top of the Micrium kernels, and leverage our RTOS services, including our TCP/IP stack, our file system, and our USB host and USB device stacks”, said Micrium CTO Christian Legare.
It is available now for RX63N MCUs, with a MicroEJ evaluation version here.
