Wireless module simplifies serial data devices
Moxa from Germany has introduced an embedded serial-to-wireless module of the MiiNePort family for wireless application requirements.
The MiiNePort W1, an embedded wireless module, provides IEEE 802.11 b/g wireless interface connection to serial devices in a small form factor and with a power consumption of 1.18W.
Integrated features include a wide-temperature (-40 to 85°C) design that can withstand severe operating environments, fast roaming technology to reduce handover times and a choice of wireless security support in AES, WEP 64/128-bit, WPA, WPA2, PSK, 802.11i.
The module is likely to be used in industrial automation, RFID and smart green (solar power) applications.
“The development of the MiiNePort E1, E2, and the E3 is intended to meet customer demands, such as a thumb-sized form factor for compact dimension requirements and PoE pass-through capability,” said Martin Jenkner, business development manager of Moxa´s industrial Ethernet solutions.
The MiiNePort W1 series is featured with Moxa’s exclusive NetEZ technology – EZPower, for variable 3.3 to 5 Vdc system power input.
The various operation modes supported include RealCOM mode and TCP server, and there is driver support to simplify software design.
