Electric car connectors stocked in UK
Essex-based Ecarconnectors has announced a range of 63A fast charging connectors for electric cars, and Type 2 connectors for European electric vehicles.
“We are seeing growing interest in the electric vehicle market and the associated end-user and infrastructure products,” said MD Alan Cook.
The 63A-rated plug and socket are designed for 3-phase 240 and 415Vac power supplies.
Protected to IP54, the socket has a spring loaded cover for additional environmental protection, while the plug has a secured dust cover for when it is not being used, and comes supplied as standard with a 5m or 3m 3-phase cable.
The Type 2 plug and socket are the firm’s second generation and “provide a male socket and a female plug bringing the EN62196-2 more in line with traditional IEC standards,” said Ecarconnectors. “The original Type 2 connectors had the opposite orientation intended to make the car mounted socket safer to users as initially it had been thought power might be drawn out of the car battery for other purposes.”
These are rated at 32A at 240Vac with a 2A/30V signal current.
Both plug and Socket are rated to IP54 and designed to meet IEC62196-2, and the socket has a captive dust cap for protection while not in use.
The firm also carries J1772 connectors, and various cable assemblies including custom cables.
Ecarconnectors is a brand name of Foremost Electronics.
