Bench wind tunnel test heatsinking up to 85°C and 5m/s
For thermal testing, Advanced Thermal Solutions has introduced a closed-loop wind tunnel with a 77x26x11.6cm test section.
Called CLWT-115, the 2.2m long unit “provides an accurate system for thermally characterising PCBs, heat sinks and components at controlled temperatures from ambient to 85°C”, claimed the Massachusetts firm. “The precise controls and temperature range allows its use for testing heat sink performance and for calibrating air and temperature sensors.”
Air flows up to 5m/s are available, increasing to 50m/s using optional orifice plates.
A clear plastic test section provides a continuous view for study using smoke or vapour, and the chamber can be accessed from the top or sides for mounting and repositioning, with internal rail guides available for mounting.
Temperature and velocity probes can be introduced through six instrument ports in the side of the test section.
