Keithley introduces 3-channel precision power supply
Keithley has added dual and triple output versions to its 2200 family of precision power supplies.
0.03% basic voltage and 0.1% basic current read back accuracy are claimed.
Model 2230-30-1 provides two individually isolated 30V 1.5A output channels, typically used for powering analogue circuits, plus a 6V 5A output, typically for powering digital circuits.
Model 2220-30-1 omits the 5V output.
Being isolated (to 240V), the outputs can be combined to reach 60V or 3A – with a special display mode showing total voltage or current – and each channel can be turned on or off independently so the supplies can be used with circuits that need timed power sequences.
Bipolar voltages (+/-30V, for example) can be supplied, and ‘tracking mode’ allows the outputs to maintain a user-defined ratio.
Voltage setting and reading resolution is 1mV, current setting and reading resolution is 1mA, and output values are set by rotary knob, key pad, or remotely over USB.
A programmable timer allows tests to run unattended, turning off the outputs after a specified interval.
Remote sensing is possible, via rear panel connectors, and ripple is said to be lower than 3mVp-p – these are all-linear PSUs to keep noise low.
Features provided to protect fragile or experimental loads from damage during testing include programmable voltage maximums to prevent the outputs accidentally being set too high. And all front panel controls can be locked using a user-definable password to prevent changes during critical tests.
For repeat tests, instrument settings can be saved to one of 30 internal memory locations, and a numeric keypad offers an alternative to the knob for entering output values.
For automated test, the TMC-compliant USB port allows control from a variety of programming environments, including the Tektronix Edition of LabVIEW SignalExpress from National Instruments which provides tools for basic instrument control, data logging, and analysis.
