Toshiba and Honda network smart homes
Toshiba and Honda are demonstrating three networked smart homes in Saitama City that optimise energy management in everyday life and continuous power supply at the time of a disaster.
Energy is supplied by solar power, gas engine cogeneration and household batteries.
The smart homes use Toshiba’s smart meter technology and provide energy management within the community by networking the three smart houses and the technology which controls appliances in each house.
Honda will provide energy generation and storage technologies. The two companies also will explore the possibility of collaborating their cloud-based services, realising the interconnectivity of their products and reusing Toshiba’s SciB battery installed in Honda electric vehicles.
