Gate drive optocouplers to get switching SiC mosfets
ACPL-W345 (1A) and ACPL-W346 (2.5A) are designed to protect both SiC and Si mosfets in inverters, motor controls, and switching PSUs.
Maximum propagation delay is 120ns (50ns max difference).
“Compared to Avago’s previous generation devices, these are twice as fast in terms of propagation delay,” said the firm.
Output voltage is rail-to-rail, from a 10V-20V output supply.
Icc is 4mA, allowing bootstrapping, claimed the firm, but a 1µF bypass capacitor is essential to supply drive current.
LED current is 7mA (11mA max).
Other features are under-voltage lock-out with hysteresis and 50kV/µs minimum common mode rejection (CMR) at 1,500V common-mode.
Devices come in a stretched SO6 package with 8mm clearance, UL Recognised to 5,000Vrms (1 minute UL1577).
For 7mm clearance there are less stretched ACPL-P… variants for 3,750Vrms.
Temperature range is -40°C to 105°C, and safety approval is UL (3,750VrmsS for 1min), CSA, and IEC/EN/DIN EN 60747-5-5 (VIORM=891Vpeak).
