Altera completes transition of all product families to 28nm
Today Altera announces volume production of 28nm Cyclone V, so completing the transition of all its product families – Stratix V, Arria V and now Cyclone V – to 28nm technology.
Developed on TSMC’s 28-nm Low Power (28LP) process, the Cyclone V includes variants with an integrated dual-core ARM-based hard processors.
Cyclone V claims the lowest-power serial transceivers, with 88-mW power consumption per channel; it supports 800-Mbps DDR3 with integrated hard memory controllers and PCIe Gen2 hard intellectual property (IP) blocks with multifunction support enabling over 4,000-MIPS processing performance for under 1.8 W.
Cyclone V targets industrial, wireless, wireline, military and automotive applications.
