LG chooses Moblin for GW990 smartphone
An interesting one from CES – LG is going the Linux route with its LG GW990 smartphone.
The device has a 4.8-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1024 x 480 pixels, and was unveiled during Intel’s keynote at the show.
It is described as a MID (mobile internet device), basically halfway between a smartphone and a netbook. It uses the Atom-based Moorestown platform, and runs the Linux-based Moblin 2.1 operating system.
We await more details on the phone, an envelope-pushing Linux rival to the the Vodafone 360 Samsung M1.
