National Instruments has added an interactive measurement capability to its LabVIEW graphical system design software.
Called SignalExpress, measurement tool will be used in data logging, instrument control and engineering teaching. Readers can download LabVIEW SignalExpress LE, a limited version of the software, for free from the company website.
For example, in data-logging the software can be used to acquire live measurements, log their data to a disc and export the data to a spreadsheet application, such as Microsoft Excel. It also provides data-logging features such as alarm monitoring and condition logging.
As the software is based on the firm’s generic LabVIEW Express platform, there is a straight-forward route to the generation of graphical programming code.
Another feature is that SignalExpress will support plug-and-play setup with the firm’s CompactDAQ USB-based data acquisition system, where it will support more than 270 data acquisition devices.
Analysis and processing functions in SignalExpress include frequency, time and statistical analysis, to analyse their data as they acquire it.
