Mentor Graphics extends support of its iSolve emulation-based intellectual property (IP) products for speedy verification of wireless and multimedia designs based on ARM processors.
The iSolve family includes two new ARM processors, the ARM11 MPCore multiprocessor and the ARM1176JZF-S processor, adding to the existing iSolve portfolio of ARM7, ARM9 and ARM11 processors.
According to Mentor, the inclusion of one or more models in a design, the system verification can be performed at megahertz speeds using transaction-based acceleration or in-circuit emulation from its recently announced Veloce product.
According to John Cornish, v-p of marketing for the system design at ARM: “Mentor’s iSolve products provide a fast, proven verification solution for systems based on the ARM11 MPCore multiprocessor and ARM1176JZF-S processor. Combining the speed and accuracy of ARM RealView Core Tiles and Soft Macrocell Models (SMMs) with the visibility and debug capabilities of the Mentor hardware emulator addresses the needs of our joint customers.”
The hardware-assisted co-verification environment is claimed to speed execution times by up to 10,000 times that of regular software simulators, according to Mentor. They also provide a connection to the ARM debug tools, such as RealView ICE, for software debugging.
