Toshiba has announced a dedicated 3D graphics chip that can render 100 mega-polygons a second.
Samples of the new graphics chips will be available from October.
The TC35711XBG chip integrates a newly developed 3D graphics processor alongside Toshiba’s Media Embedded Processor (MeP) to handle sound, a host processor, a WVGA LCD controller for wide-screen displays.
The aim is to bring key components of a game console onto a single chip for mobile phone game applications.
