Souriau, a world leading designer and manufacturer of high performance connectors for severe environments, is launching a new military connector range, the JDX Series, at DSEi show 2007.
Designed specifically for infantry soldier applications in the harsh military environment, the connectors are extremely robust and simple to use, offering soldier modernisation programs an innovative and reliable interconnect solution. The JDX series connectors are on display at DSEi, along with further Souriau innovative connector products, including fibre optic connectors and an explosively formed hermetically sealed range.
"Performance and safety are key requirements for infantry applications," says Paul Makin, business development manager military and aero, Souriau UK. "Souriau has developed the JDX connectors with exclusive breakaway features to prevent entanglement that could lead to injury. With no moving parts, the risk of jamming is also removed, increasing reliability in stressful environments."
Available in shell sizes 0 and 2 and with contact layouts from 2 to 19 positions, the small footprint allows access in restricted space applications. With an operating temperature range of -50oC to 125oC the ability to withstand over one thousand mating cycles and undergo exposure to sea salt for 150 operating hours, it is a very robust connector range. A protective cover prevents damage by providing strain relief and environmental sealing, whilst the hooded socket contacts provide protection against probing damage.
The JDX breakaway feature is ideal for harsh environments where cable entanglement could injure the operator or damage equipment, and also makes the connectors easy to use. A non-reflective finish and sealing make equipment more tactical.
Some details of the JDX series were announced earlier this summer at the Soldier Technology 2007 Forum, leading to Souriau winning the award for Best Product Improvement at the show. "We are delighted that industry experts recognise the JDX as an innovative connector solution for soldier modernisation programs," says Francois Calvarin, chief executive officer, Souriau. The award-winning JDX series is now available for purchase, directly from Souriau only.
