A requirement to maximising performance on multiple cores is dual channel memory. Dual channel memory is a standard feature on most boards, but not always feasible to place on a small modular form factor such as COM Express modules.
RadiSys has tried to address this with the Procelerant CE945GM, a 125x95mm Basic COM Express form factor module that combines the Intel Core 2 Duo processors with dual channel memory.
Another feature of the dual-core design is that designers can mix and match multiple operating systems on a single device with the introduction of Intel Virtualisation Technology (VT) and consolidate multiple processor boards into a single Com Express module. The RadiSys Microware OS-9, can run in one core in parallel with a general purpose OS such as Windows or Linux running on the other core.
The module is compliant with the PICMG COM Express module specification and with its dual channel SODIMM memory support it will have a memory expansion capacity at 2Gbyte DDR2 667MHz SODIMM memory per channel, or a total of 4Gbyte.
The module is available with a range of Intel Core Duo processors and it has five x1 PCI Express links with total peak transfer rate of 25Gbit/s in full-duplex mode.
