Intersil has introduced a synchronous buck regulator in an 8-lead, 2x3mm DFN package which performs DC-DC control and conversion while supporting a continuous load of 1.5A.
The device’s current mode control architecture is designed for low duty cycle operation at high frequency with fast transient response. It can operate in forced PWM mode or automatic PFM/PWM mode with quiescent current of 17[micro]A.
In the ISL8009A there is a pair of low on-resistance p-channel and n-channel switching Mosfets. A 2ms power-on-reset and enable outputs provide internal voltage monitoring and sequencing. The timer output can be reset through the reset system input pin.
For additional safety, the ISL8009A discharges the output capacitor through a 100ohm resistor when the application is shut down.
Other features include internal digital soft-start, enable for power sequence, overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown.
