Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX3622 ultra-low-jitter, dual-output clock generator. It uses a low-noise VCO and proprietary PLL architecture to generate two ultra-low-jitter, 0.14psRMS (typ) clock outputs from a 25MHz crystal resonator.
Additionally, states Maxim, it achieves -55dB PSNR (power-supply noise rejection) to minimize jitter degradation in noisy power-supply environments. Integrating LVPECL and LVCMOS buffers, the MAX3622 provides 125MHz LVCMOS and 156.25MHz LVPECL output frequencies simultaneously, thus reducing the number of crystal oscillators.
According to the company, this ultra-low-jitter, precision clock generator is ideal for Ethernet switches/routers and other networking applications.
The MAX3622 is fully specified over the 0 degrees Celsius to +70 degrees Celsius commercial temperature range, and operates from 3.3V ±5%. It is available in a lead-free, 16-pin TSSOP package.
Prices start at $12.00 (1000-up, FOB USA). An evaluation kit is available to speed designs.
