The OTN system for the CMA5000 Universal Transport Analysis (UTA) module, is available from Anritsu Instruments Company, a subsidiary of Anritsu Corporation, a global provider of operational support systems for advanced and converged networks.
The UTA module was already supporting 10G Ethernet and SONET/SDH applications. Now, the OTN system brings new features for testing OTU-1 and OTU-2 networks. In addition to the legacy G.709 rates (10,709 Gbps and 2,66 Gbps), the UTA also supports the new 11,049 Gbps and 11,096 Gbps rates. Both formats are identical to standard OTU-2 frame but with overclocking in order to adapt the payload of the OTN frame to the 10 GigE LAN-PHY line rate.
The CMA5000 OTN application provides technicians and engineers with a powerful set of test functions needed for installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting OTN networks. One feature of the CMA5000 OTN application is the special error insertion compliant to O.182 to evaluate the FEC (Forward Error Correction) performance of OTN networks.
This recommendation specifies how to generate errors to approach the natural errors occurrence in real networks. This is the only digital method that allows a comparison between the results obtained and the theoretical FEC curve defined in G.709.
