TDK has a series of low-profile PFC choke transformers optimised for use in flat panel displays.

The PFC series features a 40% reduction in profile, from 27mm to 15mm, as well as a 30% reduction in volume and a 20% reduction in weight from the earlier SRW4025EC transformer series. 

The design uses a high-saturation flux density ferrite material developed by TDK and used in the wound core of the coil. Called PC47, it enables the PFC coke transformer cores to be wound more tightly, but the core is also wound with an oval, rather than round cross section, facilitating the significantly reduced profile.

The line-up of the new choke transformers consists of components ranging from 75W to 300W. A total of 12 different products in four series, with dimensions as small as 30x37x15.
