Strengthened RF conformance test system supports mobile terminal MBMS broadcast service verification tests.
Anritsu WI-049 MBMS option supports MBMS performance tests of 3.5G HSPA mobile terminals using the ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/Performance Test System.
MBMS is the 3GPP standard for broadcast of content, such as multimedia video and audio, over an HSPA mobile network. Development of HSPA mobile terminals that support MBMS requires GCF approved RF/RRM testing to assure global interoperability.
Installing the WI-049 MBMS Option into the ME7873F provides a suite of GCF-approved RF/RRM tests of MBMS functions for test and validation of HSPA mobile terminals.
As handsets have developed higher speed data capabilities, 3.5G mobile terminal vendors using the extended W-CDMA HSPA standard are increasingly building-in MBMS functions to enable operators to offer broadcast distribution of rich-content services such as video and audio through the 3G network.
As with W-CDMA, the GCF has defined RF/RRM tests items in the WI-049 FDD Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service standard to assure global interoperability between HSPA mobiles.
Once the GCF tests have been validated, systems supporting MBMS development need to be tested in the run-up to system roll-out, as this is required for terminal certification and approval.
To meet these test needs, Anritsu has enhanced the performance of its ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/Performance Test System by developing the WI-049 MBMS Option offering support for GCF-approved interoperability tests of MBMS functions.
The ME7873F W-CDMA TRX/Performance Test System is designed for testing TX, RX and RRM performance based on the 3GPP standards. It uses GCF-approved test cases to assure that test procedures and accuracy comply with the 3GPP standards.
