The MAX4886 EV kit provides a complete, drop-in 2:1 HDMI system that enables video sources to be switched without compromising signal integrity.
The differential switches are based on an n-channel MOSFET architecture with an internal charge pump for gate overdrive. This advanced architecture produces the extremely low capacitance and on-resistance that is required to meet the low-insertion-loss requirements for digital switching.
The MAX4886 is ideal for applications that require switching signals from one of two driving sources and connecting these two signals to a single monitor.
The MAX4886 evaluation kit (EV kit) from semiconductor manufacturer Maxim Integrated Products is a fully assembled and tested surface-mount PCB that combines a MAX4886 quad, high-speed HDMI(TM)/DVI(TM) digital video switch with a MAX4929E low-frequency, 2:1 control switch.
Capable of handling both high-frequency TMDS(R) signals and low-frequency, HDMI control signals, it provides a complete solution for multiplexing two HDMI video streams into a single port.
The MAX4886 EV kit can easily be dropped into an application with little to no modification. It operates from an HDMI source (or an external 5V DC power supply) and provides on-board 3.3V regulation. HDMI input/output connections are provided to easily interface with HDMI-compatible devices. The kit also includes a separate test circuit for eye diagram evaluation. The MAX4886 EV kit is available now for $75.
