Omron has released what it claims is the world’s smallest 10GHz RF MEMS switch/relay.

Aimed at automatic test equipment (ATE), RF test instruments and similar applications, the Omron Type 2SMES-01 offers a typical insertion loss of 1dB at 8GHz in a 5.2x3.0x1.8mm LGA12 package.

The switch is being released in SPDT form initially, with a contact life of 100 million operations - from the use of both contact-forming and wafer-level-packing techniques.

Rated operating temperature is -20 to +85ºC and typical power consumption is 10µW.
