The XCM406 multi-chip module (MCM) from Torex Semiconductor combines two XC6210 high current, high speed LDO (low dropout) regulators in a USP-12B01 package measuring 2.8x2.3x0.6mm.
The IC operates from a supply voltage within a range of 1.5V to 6.0V to provide output voltages of between 0.8V and 5.0V (accurate to +/-2%), with an ultra low dropout of just 50mV at 100mA.
It designed to handle load currents in excess of 700mA per channel. A high ripple rejection of 60dB at 1kHz and fast transient response make the device suitable for noise sensitive applications.
For extra output stability, the device is fully compatible with low ESR ceramic capacitors.
The two LDO regulators feature a voltage reference, an error amplifier, a current limiter foldback circuit and a phase compensation circuit, plus a driver transistor. The foldback current limit circuit also operates as the output current limiter (800mA max) and the output pin protector.
Power consumption is 35µ A per channel typical.
A chip enable function allows the output of each LDO to be turned off, putting the device into standby mode and reducing power consumption to a maximum of 0.1µA.
Operating temperature range is -40 to +85ºC.
