Available from Acal Technology, the LTM8021 is a dc-dc point-of-load (POL) regulator from Linear Technology with on-board inductor and power components.

The integrated circuit operates from 3-36V (40V max) and delivers up to 500mA at 0.8-5V.

The complete 2.8mm high package occupies 6.25x11.25mm on the PCB and weighs 0.49g "enable system designers to solder the device on the backside of the circuit board", claims Acal.

Intended applications are systems with 5V, 12V, 24V and 28V input supply rails such as medical, industrial, avionics and after-market automotive.
 
One resistor adjusts the output voltage and the device is rated for operation from -40 to 85ºC, and although ROHS compliant, its gold-plated pads enable use of lead-free or lead-inclusive solder.
