A range of filtered IEC connectors from Schaffner is designed to offer approximately 10dB more noise attenuation than the supplier’s existing FN 9222 connectors in the same package.
Improvements are mainly from 150kHz to 10MHz. Medical versions meeting IEC/EN 60601-1 are options.
Reliability is enhanced by the use of a saturation resistant core and the thermal design. MTBF at 40ºC/230V (Mil-HB-217F) is 2,230,000h.
Maximum current is 15A, continuous operation is up to 250VAC at 50/60Hz, operating frequency is dc to 400Hz, protection category is IP40 according to IEC 60529 and temperature range is -25 to +85ºC (operation and storage). FN 9244E is the same, plus an earth line choke.
"We have improved the performance of medical grade filters without Y capacitors and employed a new plastic magnetic core which fulfils the air isolation and creepage requirements for the medical market," said the firm's managing director Paul Dixon.
Design corresponds to UL 1283, CSA 22.2 No. 8 1986, IEC/EN 60939 and Snap-in mounting versions are available to fit panel thickness from 0.7 to 2.2mm and a wide mounting flange option may be specified for ruggedised products. All models are RoHS compliant.
