Anritsu has raised the bar in its range of vector network analysers with the VectorStar series of microwave analysers.
A feature of the MS4640A is the lower frequency range which now goes down to 70kHz rather than the 10MHz more typical in this type of analyser.
This improves the error-prone task of dc-approximation, providing better device models and circuit simulation.
The low-end frequency should also improve stability as it eliminates coupler roll-off below 1GHz, a necessary evil of competitive VNAs, said the supplier.
The upper frequency range is 70GHz and the dynamic range is 103dB at 67GHz.
Anritsu has also increased the measurement speed to 20µs/point for S-parameter measurements on RF, microwave, and millimetre wave devices.
The full analyser range offers three standard frequency ranges that go to 20GHz, 40GHz, and 70GHz. It is a 2-port instrument which is compatible with existing 4-port and broadband millimetre wave systems for 70kHz to 110GHz measurements, or waveguide banded measurements up to 500GHz.
