Real-Time Systems has signed a development agreement with RadiSys.
As a result RadiSys will use RTS-Hypervisor and will act as a global reseller of the Real-Time Systems’ Hypervisor technology, supporting Microware OS-9 as well as other Real-Time Operating Systems, Linux or Microsoft Windows XP.
The RTS Hypervisor, when applied to Intel Virtualisation technology partitions processor cores, memory and I/O devices into individual, independent computers.
Devices or machines that currently use an embedded hardware board in parallel to a separate computer executing Windows XP can be merged on a single multi-core hardware.
A dual core CPU running the RTOS can execute completely independent in parallel to Windows XP or Linux. Other combinations of executing multiple of the same or different operating systems are simply a matter of available CPU cores.
"Specifically, the RTS solution helps our customers reduce their total cost of ownership by running both general purpose operating system and the real-time operating system, such as OS-9, concurrently on a single platform," said Linda Xiao, director of marketing at RadiSys.
