The SEC range of supercapacitors, available from Rhopoint Components, is available in values between 470,000µF and 1,000,000µF. They can be used to replace secondary batteries in systems, said the supplier. 

The capacitors’ ability to store or release energy quickly makes them suitable for use in energy recovery systems.

Also they will operate without significant degradation of performance over the temperature range of -25 to 70ºC, they can be charged and discharged for more than 100,000 cycles and are environmentally friendly containing no heavy metals or other hazardous substances.

Typical applications include: memory backup for hand held electronics systems, industrial control systems and commercial electronics.

Custom capacitor assemblies are also available for applications such as electric vehicle energy recovery systems.
