Atmel's picoPower AVR ATtiny10 has 1Kbytes of programmable Flash memory, and 32bytes of internal SRAM.
The 6-pin device has up to 12 MIPS of processing throughput, an 8-bit A/D converter, an analog comparator, and a 16-bit timer with PWM, making it a suitable single chip system for high volume applications.
Using the AVR CPU the ATtiny10 is claimed to provide six times the performance of other similar sized microcontrollers. This processing efficiency reduces the time in active mode and increases the time spent in power saving sleep modes, combined with Atmel’s picoPower technology this ensures low power consumption numbers.
The 2x3 mm SOT-23 package houses an analogue comparator, four A/D converter channels, a 16-bit timer counter that can run two phase and frequency correct PWM outputs, and a powerful CPU.
All tinyAVR microcontrollers use the standard AVR microcontroller development tools. The AVR Studio AVR integrated development environment is available free on Atmel's website.
Samples of the ATtiny10 are available now. Volume price for 10k units is $0.35.
