Maxim’s latest boost regulator has integrated charge pumps, switch control, and a high-current operational amplifier.
The aim, said the supplier, is to offer a device which integrates all functions required to power the source drivers, gate drivers, and VCOM backplane in LCDs. It also includes a switch for gate-driver-supply modulation.
A step-up DC-DC converter, the MAX17075 features a 1.2MHz switching frequency. It integrates a power mosfet and digital soft-start to reduce the number of external components required to control inrush currents.
Through this topology, the device provides output voltages up to 18V from a 2.5V to 5.5V input, while achieving efficiencies over 85%, said the supplier.
Additionally, the device integrates charge pumps that provide LCD gate-on and gate-off supplies, and it allows the output voltage to be adjusted using external resistive voltage-dividers.
The built-in op amp drives the VCOM backplane and features +/-500mA short-circuit current with a 45V/microsecond slew rate.
