Acal Technology are sampling a low power 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi sensor networking module from RF Monolithics (RFM) for industrial sensor nodes powered by single AA Lithium batteries, which will run from a few weeks to over five years.

The RFM WSN802G module supports data rates of 1Mbit/s and 2Mbit/s.

Active power consumption is specified at less than 200mA. The device draws less than 8μA in sleep mode.

Operating in the 2.4GHz ISM band at 10mW RF power, the module has receiver sensitivity of -92dBm at 1Mbit/s, and -90dBm at 2Mbit/s, with a typical transmission range of 50 meters indoors, and 250 meters outdoors.

The module footprint is 1.0x1.05 square inches.
