Aimed at MRI scanners, Syfer Technology has introduced a range of non-magnetic capacitors.
"The use of conventional nickel barrier terminations is not suitable due to the magnetic properties exhibited by nickel. Silver/palladium terminations have been used in the past, but are no longer viable due to the increase in soldering temperatures necessitated by the use of lead-free solders," said Syfer.
"The result has been solder leaching problems for Ag/Pd terminations, making an alternative termination essential."
The firm's offering are multi-layer ceramic capacitors with a copper barrier and tin finish.
Included are C0G/NPO types from 0.1pF to 15nF (50V to 3kV), and X7R from 47nF to 6.8µF (16V to 2kV).
To meet 260C soldering reflow profiles (medical electronics standard J-STD-020), the C0G/ NP0 dielectrics are supplied with sintered termination while X7R dielectrics feature the firm's FlexiCap termination.
Packages are between 0402 and 2225, and operating temperature is -55 to 125C.
