Strategic Test has announced the first Freescale i.MX51 processor-based system-on-DIMM. It can run Linux or Windows CE.
Called the TX51, it measures 67.6x26x4.2mm and contains an 800MHz ARM Cortex-A8 coupled with 128Mbyte of mobile DDR-SDRAM, 128Mbyte NAND flash memory and a 200pin SODIMM connector.
Key features include: LCD resolution up to 1280x768, OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG 1.1 hardware accelerators, multi-format HD 720p video decoder and D1 video encoder engine, camera interface, NEON SIMD media accelerator, vector floating point unit, high-speed USB 2.0 OTG (and host), 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet.
Interfaces include: UART(3), SDIO(2), SSI/AC97/I2S(2), I2C, CSPI, keypad, external memory interface.
Amongst others, potential power sources are Li-Ion/polymer (3.0-4.2V) and USB (5V).
Applications include netbooks and media players, and the module is pin-compatible with the existing i.MX27 and I.MX25 processor-based modules.
The Development Kit-5 hardware reference platform can be supplied, which supports Windows Embedded CE 6.0 and Linux 2.6.
