Goepel electronic says its boundary scan emulation technology, called VarioTAP, for the non-JTAG debug interfaces, now supports various proprietary debug architectures of different chip manufacturers without utilising processor specific pods. The first interfaces to be supported are the so called BDM interface (Background Debug Mode) and the MCU of the Freescale MPC5xx series with power architecture.
The boundary scan system can be used for flash programming up to emulation test at system level.
The VarioTAP IP models are supported as standard starting from the supplier’s JTAG development environment, System Cascon version 4.5.3, and are activated by the licence manager like the system software.
