Industrial Mini I/O connectors from Tyco Electronics features two points of contact and, although it is approximately a quarter the size of a traditional RJ-45 plug, there is a latch designed to protect the plug from pull-out in a collision.

"The connector system is a replacement for RJ-45 technology. Its latching system and multiple contact points significantly reduce the risk of information loss in high vibration environments," said product manager James Gula.

The polarised, wire-to-board interface features two keying options to prevent mis-mating and consists of eight individual circuits.

Aimed at industrial controllers, PLCs, motion control and robotics in the industrial automation market, "the product meets Cat5e requirements when used in Ethernet applications", said Tyco.

Electrical specifications include 0.5A 30V rating on 0.635mm centerline spacing.

Operating temperature is -40 to +70C with a durability of 1,500 cycles.

Surface-mount and through-hole versions are offered.
