Atmel has introduced its smallest microcontroller range.
ATtiny4, 5, 9 and 10 come in a 2x2x0.6mm 8pad UDFN package weighing less than 8mg "to reduce the package size as much as 55% compared to the market's smallest package offering available today", claimed the firm.
Applications targets include lighting, phones, toys and toothbrushes, as well as secreted inside electrical leads, connectors, printer heads, clothing fabrics and plastic cover sheets.
Code can be executed at up to 12Mips at 12MHz, and with only RTC running power can be 650nA, dropping to 100nA in power down.
