Tyco Electronics has developed a high-power interface, the Mag45 Power over Ethernet (PoE) Plus PSE-ICM connector, to meet both IEEE 802.3AF/AT and PoETec specifications.

The interface design combines a RJ-45 connector with integrated gigabit magnetics and an embedded PoE Plus controller board .
The company says this allows data and power to be transmitted over the same Ethernet cable via existing Cat5 infrastructures.

This latest development utilizes PoE technology to offer a high current capacity up to 600mA per port.
