Texas Instruments has introduced the TMS320C5504 and TMS320C5505 low power digital signal processors (DSPs) that run at 150MHz.
This is a 25% performance increase on previous C55x devices.
Power consumption is specified at 0.15mW/MHz and standby power at less than 0.15mW.
There is up to 320kbyte of on-chip memory.
The C5504 DSP has up to 256kbyte of on-chip memory and the C5505 DSP offers an additional 64kbyte of on-chip memory.
There is also an integrated display controller and fast Fourier transform (FFT) hardware acceleration for end equipments such as noise-cancellation headphones, musical instruments, medical monitoring, biometrics and seismic sensors.
