Vicor's latest power converters in its VI BRICK range of Intermediate Bus Converters, have 300W and 500W power ratings.

Available as drop-in replacements for industry standard eighth-brick and quarter-brick 5:1 and 4:1 intermediate bus converters, IBC048-series modules include 300W and 500W models, providing 9.6V or 12V outputs from a nominal 48V input with a voltage range extending from 38V to 55V.

IBC048-series modules provide pin-compatible upgrades for eighth-brick and quarter-brick bus converters, the sale of which has been restricted by a US District Court injunction against manufacturers found to infringe patent claims asserted by SynQor.
Bus converters utilising Vicor's proprietary Sine Amplitude Converter engine are fundamentally different from bus converters that were found to infringe.

With its high switching frequency, the IBC048 module cut transient response time from 200 to 20µs, which can reduce the need for bulk capacitors.
