AVX has expanded its TransGuard series of surge protectors to include automotive specific varistors tested to load dump and jump start requirements.

Designated the VCAS Series, the AEC Q200 qualified varistors provide bi-directional protection.

Available in voltage ratings ranging from 16Vdc to 85Vdc with case sizes ranging from 0402 to 1210, the series is expected to be used to protect CAN-based modules and sensors in all kinds of vehicles including electric vehicles.

The firm plans to expand the VCAS series to include lower voltage ratings and case sizes 1812 and 2220.
