Bourns has introduced two boards for evaluating circuit protection on RS-485 serial device ports. 

The evaluation boards are for the supplier’s TBU high-speed protectors, GDTs, TVS diodes and MOV products.

The boards are designed to provide two different evaluation approaches for RS-485 interfaces. 

The RS-485EVALBOARD1 includes two TBU protectors, two GDTs and two TVS diodes. 

The RS-485EVALBOARD2 uses TBU protectors, MOVs and TVS products.

According to Ian Doyle, product line manager of semiconductor products at Bourns, the aim of the evaluation boards to demonstrate that is possible to enable “an entire circuit protection solution to fit into a smaller PCB area.”

The RS-485 evaluation boards are offered through the supplier’s distribution sales partners, with inventory available immediately at Digi-Key, Farnell and Mouser.
