A range of 5W USB wall mount AC-DC adapters from Emerson Network Power have a design which eliminates the need for dedicated power cable attachments and connectors.
Instead, one side of the adapter plugs into the ac supply socket, and the dc output is made available via a standard USB Type A receptacle on the opposite side.
The DCH5 series adapters have a universal 100 to 240Vac input, enabling them to be used worldwide, and generate a regulated 5Vdc output capable of delivering up to 1A continuously.
The adapters operate in constant voltage/constant current mode, and are intended for powering any USB peripheral device rated at 5 W or less requiring an external power source.
There are four DCH5 models, featuring different ac input plugs for use in the US, Europe, UK and Australia. Each model weighs 2.3oz (66g).
They comply with the Tier 2 Energy-related Products (ErP) requirements of Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, which sets stringent standards for efficiency and standby energy consumption. The adapters have no minimum load requirement and a very low no-load power consumption of less than 300mW.
Emerson Network Power DCH5 series power adapters have an extremely low safety ground leakage current of 20µA maximum. Comprehensive protection against fault conditions includes latching overvoltage, output short-circuit with auto recover, and overload protection to less than 1.5A.
