AVX has introduced a miniature, dual element AC multilayer varistor (MLV) designed for automotive low power AC circuits.

Designated the MAV Series, the AEC Q200-qualified MLVs clamp transients bi-directionally, providing 110V peak-to-peak at 125kHz capability and an ESD value of 25kV (HBM ESD Level 6).

Turn-on time is "sub-nanosecond", claims the firm, and applications are foreseen in AC circuits, LC resonant circuits, transformer secondaries, and GFI modules.

They are available in 0603 single-element and 0405 dual-element packages and PPAP documentation is available upon request.
