For switching high frequency, high power signals in mobile basestations, large and expensive SMA coaxial relays have been typically used. Now Panasonic Electric Works is suggesting an alternative approach using a small surface-mount device.
Measuring just 14.6 x 9.6 x 10.0mm, this surface-mount terminal relay has a nominal switching capacity of 80W at 2GHz and maximum contact carrying power of 150W.
With a 1 Form C contact arrangement and at a coil resistance of 50Ω, the relay can switch frequencies up to 8GHz with an isolation of at least 30dB, a maximum V.S.W.R. of 1.3 and an insertion loss of no more than 0.3dB.
Besides the single-side stable contact arrangement, 2 coil latching types are available in the customary intervals for coil voltage of 4.5V, 12V and 24V.
Additional reversed contact types allow for even more flexibility when designing circuit boards.
