Panasonic Electric has a range of low profile polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors which can be used as small-sized alternatives to tantalum capacitors.
A big advantage of SP over tantalum capacitors is that they can reduce the need to voltage de-rate, and according to the supplier they offer extremely stable temperature and frequency characteristics and low ESR.
The supplier is offering its SP Caps in low profile with heights going down to 1.1mm (SS Series), and low ESR to 3mohm (GX Series).
The low ESL SP Caps (LX Series) is designed for high frequency use at low ESR values.
Likely applications include input and output filter design for power supplies and transformers, in various Industrial applications and embedded systems.
