Renesas Electronics has expanded its RL78 family of low cost microcontrollers with the RL78/G1A 16-bit MCUs that integrate new analogue peripherals.
This analogue functionality includes a 12-bit A/D converter and there is an independent power supply for internal analogue parts to reduce noise influence from digital peripheral lines.
The new devices support a maximum of 28 channel analogue inputs for sensor applications.
Active current consumption is 66µA/MHz and 0.57µA with RTC + LVD active.
A lower power snooze mode supports analogue-to-digital (A/D) conversion and serial communication while the CPU is in standby mode.
The RL78/G1A MCUs are available in 3 x 3mm land grid array (LGA) and 4 × 4 mm ball grid array (BGA) packages.
