Linear dual channel DC/DC converter has fault protection
Tuesday 31 January 2012
Linear Technology has a dual independent channel, step-up DC/DC converter with integrated fault protection features for output shorts, input/output over-voltages, and over-temperature conditions.
Each channel of the LT8582 uses two integrated 42V switches: a 1.7A master switch and a 1.3A slave switch that can be tied together for a total current limit of 3A.
The converter operates from an input voltage range of 2.5V to 22V with transient protection to 40V, making it suitable for applications with input sources ranging from a single-cell Li-Ion to automotive inputs.
In local power supply designs each channel can be independently configured as either a boost, SEPIC, inverting or flyback converter.
The device’s low VCESAT switches, 0.27V (tied together at 2.75A) can deliver efficiencies up to 90%.
The LT8582EDKD is available in a 7mm x 4mm DFN-24 package
