Gnodal moves to the next stage with new CEO
Bristol startup Gnodal has moved onto the next stage of its development, replacing its founder as CEO with a networking industry veteran
Fred Homewood, founder, CEO and former chip architect at STMicro and Inmos, has moved to become CTO as Bob Fernander takes over as CEO. Fernander’s role is to take the lead in building the brand and driving sales of the GS-Series Switch family, based on Gnodal’s own PETA ASIC.
Fernander brings 30 years of sector experience to Gnodal, from connecting disruptive technologies with high growth markets and creating sharply growing revenue, to datacentre virtualization to meet the demands of Big Data, Video, and VDI. His operating experience spans both corporate after time at Sun, Compaq, Tandem and Digitalm, as well as start-ups including Surgient, Broadjump, Deepfile, StoredIQ and Pivot3. He recently led Pivot3 from market entrant to take the number one spot in market share in surveillance while developing and launching products expanding Pivot3′s addressable market by a factor of ten.
“Gnodal has amazing products that can revolutionise networking as we know it,” said Fernander. “The technology is genuinely game changing. I’ll use my experience in sales and marketing to build the brand, drive sales and deliver success.”
The technology is a finalist in the Interop 2012 awards taking place next week in Las Vegas. “We launched our existing products at Interop last year and it is great to be coming back with further innovation 12 months later,” said Fernander. “Our new products been developed following extensive consultation with existing clients and partners and we are therefore confident of their business application. Being announced as a finalist for Best of Interop is validation of our strategy to create IP switches that out perform Arista, Juniper, Cisco and the infiniband players.”
”We are very pleased to have Bob on board, his skills are exactly what we need to push the business forward,” said Homewood, who remains a significant investor in the company. “Bob will help us penetrate new sectors and drive sales within this competitive market.”
