2001 Electronic Services has bought St Ives-based distributor Ice Electronics for an undisclosed sum. The deal augments 2001’s semiconductor portfolio with Ice’s electromechanical, connector and passive components line card, which includes franchises for Panasonic fans, Omron and Precicontact.
Mark Stokes and Graham Low, co-founders of Ice will move across with the business. Stokes becomes general manager reporting to Roy Greer, managing director of 2001.
According to Greer, the strategy will be to lop back Ice’s current franchise and agency business to a manageable base of 15 suppliers. “It will enable us to focus on key lines and also opens up kitting opportunities,” said Greer.
The deal is 2001’s first since it returned to independent status following its departure from the SEI/Diploma group.
